I'm a teenager looking to buy a new digital camera for things like football games and when I'm hanging out with my friends. My parents already own a Nikon D80 and a Flip Video camera so I do have the means for good pictures and video, but I'd prefer a camera of my own that is more usable in informal enviornments.
The camera should preferably have a decent zoom because I ride horses and need the ability to zoom for good shots, and as high of MP or picture quality I can get. I've owned a Canon in the past and loved it.
I have looked at many reviews but find that most of them arent as helpful as I'd wish, so if anyone could give me their absolute *top* choice, that'd be great.

It would be better to read some reviews of digital cameras… Try www.cnet.com and click on the review tab. Obviously cameras of value also have a name like Nikon or Cannon

Definitely the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera. Its an outstanding camera, definitly worth the price. I'd suggest you read this review to aid in your decision:

My recommendation:

$0-$200 - Canon SX130IS
$200-$300 - Nikon P300
$300-$400 - Nikon P7000

These cameras have manual in addition to auto exposure modes - a cut above your typical point & shoot.
