Thoughts on Nikon D7000?

I'm upgrading my Pentax K-x for multiple reasons. I go to Mizzou (photo j department) and they have a connection with Nikon so for 48 hours i can use ANY nikon product. I want to upgrade because i will be doing this for the rest of my life. And because i like nikons. My Pentax is red and i'm afraid now people may not take me seriously with a red camera. I was thinking on getting a nikon D90 but then thought maybe i should just spend an extra couple hundred to get a Nikon D7000.So thoughts on the camera. And I CAN take really good pictures, so don't be like if you can't take good pictures with a Pentax then going to a Nikon won't make you take better pictures, cause that is NOT the case!

I use a D90 and it's been pretty good. I would suggest going for the D7000 since it is the next model up and it's newer. I know if I got the opportunity to try any Nikon camera for 2 days I wouldn't mind trying out the D3x.

The sensor in the Nikon D7000 is excellent, it is the same as the sensor in my Pentax K-5. But according to http://www.doxmark.com lab tests Pentax seem to get better noise and dynamic range performance out of it.
If you already have Pentax lenses as accessories it might be worthwhile having a look at the K5 as well as the D7000. The K5 only comes in black

I've been looking into getting the D7000- I went to a couple stores and everyone is saying it's one of the best dslrs you can get for the money.
just fyi, if you live in USA the price will be a bit higher right now cause of flooding in Thailand where they make the cameras- they're in short supply I think.

Look at it this way. A d90 is cheaper. A d7000 gives you a stop more high iso, metering with Ai lenses and pretty good video. If you can live without video and you're not too desperate on high iso then get a d90 and spend the rest on a good lens

I have Nikon d7000 and i really like this camera. I absoloutly recommend it. Just make sure to have a good lense to go with it.
