Starter Kit for photography?
I've been doing photography (sort of) for a few years, but I'm getting my first DSLR camera this month, and I'd like to know what I'd need to get started. Here are the things I have so far on my list:
- Nikon D3000 w/ 18-55 mm lens
- Lens Cap
- Tripod
- Remote
- Case
- Extra battery/memory card
- Card reader
What else should I need to get started? What can you recommend for all of those items above that would fit my camera well?
You have more than enough. Get good software and a great computer.
Nothing really, that's all you need. And you do not need an extra battery. If you are into portraits and have some budget, get a 50mm f1.8 lens also.
Extra lenses and an external flash are also great additions to have when taking photographs.
In the box with the camera is the lens, a battery, the lens cap and others you have not listed. You will need to buy a memory card separately and while you do, get a USB card reader too. Basically, that's it (considering you can do without the lens cap).
The tripod and remote can follow later. Case? If you intend to shoot a lot, don't keep your camera in a case. Hang it around your neck.
YES - Nikon D3000 w/ 18-55 mm lens
COMES WITH THE LENS - Lens Cap
SURE - Tripod
MEH - Remote
Case for what? - Case
SURE - Extra battery/memory card
NO NEED - Card reader
I'd add the a shoe mount flash to that mix.
