Same SD card for DSLR and nibile phone?

I just purchased a Nikon D7000 and a 32GB card for shooting RAW images. However, I want to insert a micro SD card with adapter into the second slot for storing JPEG images so that I can immediately remove it and use it in my mobile phone to share the pictures on Fb, instagram etc. Will this work?

It is not recommended that you use a single memory card for multiple cameras.

Why?

When you insert a new memory card into a camera, you need to format the card using that cameras format feature. When it formats the card, it also writes two file folders, one generic and the other that is where the camera stores all your image files.

The chances are that when you would remove the micro-SD card from its adapter and insert it into your camera, your mobile will not be able to find the file folder that has all your images in it.

You really will have to first copy your JPEG image files to a computer first and then copy them to a memory card that you formatted in you mobile, saving them to the appropriate file folder.

There's a way to use a EyeFi memory card to store and transmit your JPEG files to your mobile if your mobile has a Wi-Fi feature.

I'm sure that in the future, you will be able to do what you want, but you are going to have to wait for the technology to catch up with your plans

If you have an Android phone with USB ON THE GO aka OTG cable, you can use DSLR dashboard to upload your photo.

Your card would have been formatted for the DSLR so may not work in the phone.

It's seriously not recommended. You should treat any memory card that you use in a camera as being read compatible when used in another device. There are some minor differences in the way the file system in cameras work which mean that if you switch them too and fro you will almost certainly eventually get read errors!

A far better option would be that if you have a reasonably modern phone you can connect your camera to the phone using a special USB cable and transfer the images across!
