Public Event Photography?
I have been chosen as the Photographer for a public event. I have never photographed a public event? Can you please give me all the tips that you can? I'm using a Nikon D3100 by the way.
Added (1). It is an outdoor Event all day for 3 days. There will be live music and a lot of food. It is a fundraiser for a company.
Added (2). Around 100-200 People
It would help to know more about it. Tell us what the event it, how many people are expected, indoors or outdoors, what types of activities are expected… Anything else to give us a better idea what the event is all about will help.
Thanks.
Holy cow, that's a huge assignment!
Take pictures of everything. Take pictures of the bands from various angles. Take pictures of the audience Take pictures of the vendors. Take pictures of people buying stuff. Take pictures of stuffing their face with food. Take pictures of anyone making any announcements. Take pictures of anyone getting any awards. Take pictures that could be used as a reference for how to set up the event next year, such as a really broad view of as much of the layout as possible. This might require several points of view.
Here's an event that I used to shoot, but I have only uploaded a few photos that I thought might be of general interest. You would probably want more audience shots showing people having fun or patronizing vendors. (Just glance at the thumbnail images.)
