Off camera flash and cordless remote?
Just want people choice on what off camera flash, and cordless remote is good for efficiency and price. I have seen some cameras with an aerial sticking out the top. So not sure if that is a good brand or not, so i need some help here. I will be shooting through an umbrella, so needs to also connect to stand, and the main control piece will be sitting on top of a nikon D90, thanks for any help you can give.
Please give prices if you can, and the names of them and where to get them… Thanks again.
The D90 will trigger the Nikon SB800 and SB900 with out a remote control. (off Camera)
Their are many stands and most all strobes will mount to them even if you need to place a adapter.
SB800 Around $400 US
SB900 Around $500 US
(saving the cost of a remote)
The D90 will also trigger a SB600 (if you can still find one), or a SB700, which is around $325.
If you want to get any cheaper, look for a slave flash. A slave flash will detect when the main camera's flash goes off, and fire itself.
A few issues though. Slave flashes work best indoors so their sensors don't have to compete with the sunlight. And slave flashes are manual, so you will have to mess around with the exposure controls.
In contrast, Nikon's speedlights work from an infrared signal, and they are iTTL, which means the camera and flash communicate together to setup the proper amount of flash power.
