I really want a D3100 or a D3000 slr camera.nikon is the brand. My parents said they would buy my the body if i buy the lens. But my problem is that i have no clue what lens to buy. What type of lens would recommend to buy for either of these cameras?

Added (1). Would this camera be good for someone who is starting to use slr cameras?

The D3100 comes with a 18-55 mm lens and is probably the best of the two.

Any Nikkor AF-S lens will work with either camera.

If you want a second lens for your camera (both come with a moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto zoom lens) such as a telephoto zoom lens, save some money and buy a Tamron telephoto zoom lens as your second lens rather than the Nikkor name brand lens. Tamron is the OEM for a variety of zoom lenses offered by the camera manufacturers since Tamron holds the patent on hybrid glass-polymer aspheric lens manufacturing technology. I have used Tamron lenses for over 20 years and I love them. Best bang for the buck in my honest opinion.
