Nikon or Canon dslr camera?

I want a digital SLR camera but stuck between the Canon T3 or Nikon D3100. I've never had a camera of either brand, so I'm not sure which on else better. The Nikon is a bit more expensive but supposed to be a little better, but I have no clue! Any help?

Both Canon and Nikon make nice cameras. The best thing to do is visit an actual camera shop (not bestbuy/walmart) and try the different models within your budget to see which feels the best to you. I bought a Canon for its ergonomics/feel/menu and control layout and a fellow photog chose Nikon for the same reason… It is all about personal preference. Also, most camera shops offer free beginner camera/photography classes (and free prints) when you buy a camera there.

The one thing to remember is to budget in extra money to cover an extra battery, memory cards, camera case, a USB memory card reader, and taxes (these can add another $200-$250 to the camera price).

My thoughts on photography/cameras…

A) Photography is NOT a cheap hobby or profession
B) Photography is roughly 70% photographer skill/experience, 20% lens quality, and 10% camera body
C) I would rather have a $600 camera with a $1, 500 lens than I would a $1, 800 camera and a $300 lens

I teach digital photography classes so I get see lots of different DSLR cameras. Canon and Nikon both make great cameras. I personally shoot a Canon 20D so I may be a bit biased toward the Canon DSRL, but here is why. They are much easier to use than the Nikon DSLR's. The Nikon may have a few extra features, but the average photographer won't even use them. I see so many new photographers struggle using their Nikon D3100. Ask ten people which camera is better and you will get half who say the Canon is better and the other half saying the Nikon is better.
If it were my money to spend I would buy the Canon T3. You will be out shooting pictures with your T3 while the people with the D3100 will still be trying to figure out how to use it. Just my opinion from what I see in my classes.

i have a basic camera for you it will come in to 500#, the nikon D3100 it is the best camera from my side don't think about money you buy a right camera, it is a right selection

Canon gives you more bang for your buck. Nikon is not better than Canon. They are on an equal plane now. In fact, if anything Canon would have the edge on digital. They are much more affordable too.
