Nikon D80 battery won't charge?
I have a Nikon D80 with two batteries, recently both batteries are acting strangely, one battery won't hold a charge, I put it on the charger over night and this morning the charging light was green indicating that it was charged, so I put it in my camera and the camera said it wasn't charged. With the other the other battery, it can be fully charged and will randomly just die, even at a full charge. What should I do about this? I have ordered some new battery's hoping that's the problem, but they won't be in for a while and I need to be able to use the camera today if possible. Any suggestions?
After about 3-5 years, these LiOn batteries will stop taking a charge and will have to be replaced. Your batteries are probably around 3-5 years old, and if so, they need to be replaced. If not, then your charger isn't working properly. It's not likely that the problem lies with the charger as the batteries will fail eventually.
Unless you have the AC adapter, you are out of luck. This is why I have a backup camera. Be nice if it was another DSLR, but us poor folks just have to make do.
You may also need a new charger. I had to replace a Nikon charger recently. They don't last forever either.
Buy a new charger.
