Nikon D70s flashing F EE?

I have a Nikon D70s with a Nikkor 24-120 mm lens, and this morning when I turned my camera on, a symbol, F EE was flashing on the screen where the f stop usually appears. When I press the shutter button nothing happens, and turning the aperture dial or shutter speed dial doesn't seem to help either. I don't have the manual with me, so I have no idea what it means or how to fix it, it's never happened before! Any ideas?

You need to lock the aperture ring (on the lens) at the minimum aperture setting (highest f number). The camera will then control the aperture via the thumbwheel.

Look on the page in your user manual under Troubleshooting, page 198.
You will see the F EE and how to remedy the problem
* Lens aperture ring is not set to minimum aperture.
* Set ring to minimum aperture (largest f/-number).
* Download a copy of the user manual from Nikon

When you're not in Manual mode, set aperture to largest f/number. If there's a lock, lock it.
