Nikon d7000 black oval on back of grip?

Where the buttom of your palm would rest on the d7000 is a oval black circle that looks like it would light up. Its not the sd card light its different? What is this?

Look on page 5 of the manual (you can download this from Nikon). I'm guessing it's item 19 which is the rear infrared remote receiver.
