Nikon D5100 video settings and rendering?
I have a nikon d5100… Who knows what settings is used to create a film look. And also, what is the best render setting in sony vegas pro 11 for that film look?
The Nikon has selection of either PAL 25p full hd or NTSC 30p full hd
both in H.264(mp4)
any good video editor will be able to detect this format easily.

What part of the "film" experience are you trying to duplicate? For flickers, reduce the frame rate. Home movies shot on Super8 film is 18 fps and has a lot of glorious flicker. Also film can get scratches from dirt in the projector gate. Scratches can be added artificially by a video editor plus you add a few lint splotches for good measure. Another feature with film that does not happen with video is gate weave. When projected, the film frames tend to weave horizontally back and forth. This requires special software to keep the video frame position weaving instead of rock steady. Here is an example -
