Nikon D5100 Camera Settings

I have a Nikon D5100 with an 18-55mm lens. I can't yet afford a macro lens, but for the moment, what are the best settings for macro photography on my camera?

If its the kit lens then it should be macro, mine was.

You can buy some extension tubes that fit between the lens and your camera. This will allow you to focus closer to the subject.

There are no "best settings" for anything… Don't use full-auto and don't use the on-camera flash.

Use manual focus. Keep in mind your lens can't focus on things closer than 8 or so inches front of it.
