Nikon D5000 to a full frame camera?

I current have and use a D5000 and I'm really wanting a full frame camera. I've used a D80 when helping a photography friend. I really like it. I know the D80 isn't produced anymore and it's pretty much like the D90… Right? Well I'm just curious what would be a good full frame camera to step into from a D5000.

The D80 and D90 are not full frame. Full frame cameras are pretty expensive… And there are not that many to choose from. Nikon has the D700, D800, D3, D3s, D3x and the D4 right now. The D700 is the cheapest one, but an awesome camera nevertheless and way better than a D5000.
If it's too much you can look into a D7000.It's not full frame but probably the best cropped sensor camera Nikon makes right now.

You can get into a D700 for $2, 100 new
or the new D800 for $3, 000 new
the D80 and D90 models are not full frame. Anything under $2000 new is not full frame from Nikon.
on top of the prices that I gave you, you will most likely need to buy another lens or two that work on full frame cameras.
how many lenses do you have? Perhaps it would be better to build your lens collection with that $2000+ instead of going into a new camera system. Something like the 24-70mm f/2.8 perhaps. That is a killer lens, and will have a much larger impact on your photography than switching camera bodies.

In the Nikon world, D700 and D800 are the low-end full frame cameras going for $2200 and $3000 respectively (body only). The D80, D90, D7000 are crop sensor cameras, just like your D5000.Is there a reason why you need a full frame camera?

Sorry, but since you don't know the advantages & disadvantages of FF cameras and since you have to ask, you don't need a FF camera. Spend you money on a nice lens or two. I'm assuming you just have an 18-55, right? If thats all you have, get a 50 1.8 AF-S and spend some time learning about photography.
