Nikon D5000 LCD protector?

Mark

This will is my third DSLR, but my first Nikon. I always put screen protectors on mine but obviously this ones different with the swivel screen.

My question is pretty simple. There are obviously LCD protectors available for the D5000, but my questions is does the hard cover not allow you to close the LCD if the hard cover isn't removed? Is a glass screen protector going to allow you to close the LCD without needing to remove the glass? Is my only solution to be able to close the LCD (screen facing in) is to use the cheap plastic (air bubble prone) screen protector?

Thanks. I don't want to buy them all and test out. I've put a hard cover on a Canon XTi and a glass cover on a Canon T1i.

A proper plastic protector has no bubbles.

Any other protectors will indeed be a challenge for a D5000.

Personally I don't bother much, I've shot a d50 which didn't come with a protector and the screen is still good. I'm now shooting a D300 which came with a protector and that's holding up nicely.

Since the only thing I use the LCD for is looking at the image histogram, I have never worried about the clarity as much. I just buy packs of LCD screen covers that I find on sale, then cut to fit.

Hard LCD Cover Screen Protector For Nikon D5000 Digital SLR Camera is a perfect fit for my Nikon D5000.It has a very snug fit and shows no signs of falling off. Great item, and I do not worry about the display in my bag anymore.
