Nikon d5000 camera screen won't show picture before taking?

Nikon d5000 camera screen won't show picture before taking?

It's not supposed to… That is a DSLR camera, you are supposed to look through the viewfinder to take a photo with a DSLR. If you wanted to take photos while looking at the screen on the back, you should have purchased a point and shoot.

The D5000 doesn't have Live view - this is more usual on a point and shoot, but some DSLR's have it for specialist focusing, like for macro.
The optical viewfinder is what you're supposed to look through.

The D5000 does have live view (unlike the D3000)… Otherwise there would be no point to its swivel LCD.
It can be activated using the "Lv" button above the "Ok" button. The viewfinder is superior though.
