Nikon D40x vs newer model of dSLR?
I'm looking to venture into the dSLR world and was looking at Nikon. I'm a craigslist shopper and I came across this for 400$. Why should or shouldn't I take this deal?
nikon d40x body with 70-200 and 35 and 20-75 lens
I know this camera is older but since I'm new does it matter?
Added (1). If I should get new what should I get?
The d40x is an excellent camera, but truthfully, buying camera equipment used off of ebay is a huge risk. You don't know how many shutter accusations it has (the least of your worries), you don't know if the previous owner took care of their equipment, you don't know if the camera had been touched by water, if everything works, etc.
along with that, you don't get warranty.
My advice, get a new DSLR camera, something you know will work, with warranty.
- Anyone still using older models of DSLRs such as Nikon D3? Is there any reason in particular to not switch to a newer model of DSLR?
- Newer Nikon Camera with significant quality difference over the Nikon D40x?
- Planning on buying Nikon D90. Should I wait till a newer model replaces it?
- Should I upgrade my Nikon to a newer model?
- What's the difference between all the newer Nikon Cameras (D40, D40x, SLR, D3000)?
