Nikon D3200 White balance?

So I'm a complete beginner with DSLR cameras and wanted to try time-lapse photography. I have a Nikon D3200 and wanted to try some simple time-lapse of clouds to start out. I know the auto focus should be off, and use manual mode. I'm somewhat familiar with the manual settings (iso, shutter speed, ext) and the 24-30 fps for smooth time lapses.

My main question is how to turn off the auto white balance? If i set the camera to manual mode does that automatically lock the white balance? There doesn't seem to be an "off" setting for white balance it just lets you choose between different scene modes (clouds, incandescent, ext.)

Also any good tips for shooting cloud time-lapse or any other scenes?

First, you can't turn white balance off (you need to read your manual to learn what white balance is as it is obvious you do not know). Leave the white balance on auto.

Second, and more importantly, shooting at 24-30 fps is recording video, not time lapse. To create a time lapse video, you need to shoot single images over the course of hours or even days. The fastest you generally shoot is 1 frame every minute, not 30 shots in a second (and often you will shoot one frame every 5-10 minutes). After you have accumulated many individual images over several hours, you turn them into a video using editing software.

You will need to choose the correct white balance, though, will have to be able to pick the correct with balance of the options in the cameras menu.

Since you will be shooting clouds, you can mount your camera on your tripod, set the interval to one shot every 5 seconds and use the widest lens you have. I have a fisheye lens that I use specifically for that purpose

Every DSLR has non-automatic white balance settings you can select for different lighting conditions, and most have custom white balance settings too.

Since you are a beginner, you will want to know how to operate your camera - so keep the user manual with you at all times for quick reference, until you are familiar with all the controls/menu's within the cameras settings.
