Nikon d3200 problems?

I just bought a Nikon d3200 off of ebay, the camera works great i'm just having two problems. I got two lens's and the 55-200mm lens won't work, when I try to use it it says no lens attached even though it is (properly), and also I got a speedlight but I can't get it to slide on, This is my first dslr so i'm not sure if its me or the items

any info/advice would be appreciated!

Added (1). I also got a 18-55mm lens and it works perfectly fine.

Well sorry, but these are just two of many reasons why most of us here refuse to buy anything through ebay. Sorry about that.

Well all you can do is take all three items to a qualified repair shop and have looked over. It could be something broken in the lens - a connection, who knows what. As for the flash, if it doesn't fit perhaps it's not designed for Nikon cameras.

At any rate the shop will be able to tell you what's up. Sorry for your troubles. As Bob Hope once said, "I don't know what you did to get here but let that be a lesson to you". Never buy anything through ebay.

That is really odd with the lens. If you are sure it is on properly then something is wrong with either the camera, lens or both. I would return it. If you can't get the flash on, check where it attaches to the hot shoe on the camera and make sure that the flash is not locked.

On the 55-200, you might clean the gold contacts at the base of the lens with alcohol, just make sure you don't drip it inside the lens. If that doesn't do it, then it must be the lens.
