Nikon d3100, Pentax K-r or Canon 500d?
Please help, which one should I choose?
I'm looking for a cheaper one and there it is the Nikon d3100 but it hasn't got in build autofocus motor, which one should I choose?
So far I have had a range of canon and nikon camera. I have had the nikon d3100, and now have the nikon d5000. I have found I work better with a nikon camera, I think that canons are a bit hit and miss when it comes to focusing and nikons are more user friendly. Canon's aren't that great unless you go for the eos range, and mosly are very expensive. However the photographer usually has a certain preference. The nikon d3100 is also out of range soon, nikon are very quick at replacing their cameras models. My camera, the nikon d5000, I believe is a million times better than the nikon d3100 and is also in the same price range. Also most reputable stores will allow you to have test runs with both cameras so you can see for yourself what you prefer.
I agree with the above answer. Don't waste money on any of those, go straight for Nikon's D5000 you'll be much happier with a camera of that quality and it's worth more then you have to pay for it.
As most regulars around here know I only recommend cameras I own and know… In this case the
500D. It's an excellent camera - excellent video and of your short list, because I own and know it,
I highly recommend it.
Heres an independent comparison.

Suppliment the Pentax K5 and you'll have the best APS sized DSLR currently out there.
Pentax is by far the cheapest DSLR system to buy into.
