Nikon d3000 pictures black?

My nikon d3000 is under a year old and all of a sudden, when i take a picture, the picture is completely black. (no, the lens cap isn't on) i've reset all of the settings back to factory settings and i have even formatted my memory card.nothing is helping. What is wrong with my camera?

Go outside on a sunny day, put your camera into auto mode and see if it works OK. If it does, you likely set something wrong (perhaps you are in manual mode). If not, it is probably broken.

I suggest you take it to a Nikon repair center - you even might get a replacement on warranty.
