Nikon D3000 memory card?

I just got my first Nikon, So I have no clue what I'm doing.
But, We went out an bought a 4g memory card at bestbuy.
So, I put it in the camera
And I was just sorta figuring out the camera and taking pictures and stuff.
And then all of a sudden a notice came up saying the card was damaged and i need a new one.
Do I really have to go buy a new Memory card?
Or is there something I can do?

Try formatting the memory card through your camera… Go to menu and look for the option to do that, if your card really works then it might be that it was just corrupted… If it still doesn't work, call bestbuy and have it replaced, it shouldnt act that way

It probably is a damaged memory card if the camera says it is. The best you can do is plug it in your computer, reformat it and try again. If you get the same message, take it back to Best Buy and have them replace it. There should be at least a 30 day warranty against defects
