Nikon D3000 black photos?
I was taking photos in the Smithsonian and my photos began turning black. I cans till view previous photos but new ones taken are pitch black. Is this a common Nikon D3000 error or is there something i can do to fix it?
Added (1). It's not the exposure, i've used the camera on all settings. I own a D90 and a cannon EOS rebel and a photographer for a PR agency, i know a thing or two about using a camera, just not fixing them.
I haven't had that problem with my nikon d3000, load the pictures on the computer and if they are still black take it into a camera store and they will be able to help.
What are the exposure settings? Can you hear the mirror moving as you take the photo?
The camera is not the problem. The problem is that you have no idea how to operate a manual DSLR camera properly. Go learn a thing or two about creating a proper exposure and try again.
Black images only means one thing. Gross under exposure. If the cameras light meter tells you that you are correctly exposing the images, then you have another issue and need to have your specific Nikon D3000 looked at by a qualified camera repair person.
I have never had such a problem with any camera for the over 35 years I have been shooting professionally.
Are you sure you have a cannon EOS, not a Canon EOS?
To answer your question, it is certainly not common for D3000's to grossly underexpose everything, regardless of settings. Your camera needs to be checked by Nikon.
