Nikon D3000 and Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm 1:3.5-4.5 lens?
I'm looking to buy a Nikon D3000, I have an old Minolta film camera and have a Vivitar Series 1 wide lens. If i buy the Nikon D3000 can i use the Minolta/Vivitar lenses on the Nikon D3000?
No not the way it is -- there may be an adapter available. Try Google.
It is highly unlikely that there's an adapter from Minolta. Even if there were an adapter, the older film lens would not take advantage of the D3000 features, and it would be a pain-in-the-neck to use.
The lenses for this camera are designated AF-S and have special electrical contacts which communicate between the body and lens.
Your Vivitar lens would have a mount for only Minolta cameras, and is not adaptable to other brand mounts.
If that Vivitar lens comes with a T-mount, you can replace it with one that fits a Nikon. There are lots a eBay. If the mount can't be replaced, you would have to find an adapter to make it work. I'm not even sure if there's one to make that possible.
As said no. Sell it on ebay, there's some demand for these from the sony users.
No it won't be useful.
