Nikon 17-35 or nikon 14-24?

Which is the best lens between the two? I have a D90. Wanted a wide angle lens. My lenses are 18-105, 70-300 and 24-70.

A grand wizard such as Forest would want to go wider than 18, so the 14-24 will protect our own.

Neither.
Both are ultra wide angle lenses designed for full frame cameras, not for crop frame ones as yours is. There's very little point in even considering the 17-35mm one as you already have a lens that starts at 18mm.
Do you want merely a wide angle lens or an ultra wide angle one? You already have a wide angle one… So unless you are unhappy with its performance, there's little reason to replace it for these purposes.
If you want an ultra wide angle lens, consider one of the following:
Nikkor 10-24mm
Tokina 11-16mm
Sigma 10-20mm
