Nikkor DX or FX lens?

I want to purchase the Nikon D7000, but am having trouble deciding on which lens to purchase. I did some research, and heard that FX lenses are better in the long run, not only for their quality, but also for their versatility, because they can be mounted onto a DX camera body without any cropping. What should I look for specifically when purchasing Nikkor lenses, or lenses in general?
If it helps, I will mainly be shooting portraits/ people and some landscape.

Your D7000 is designed to use both DX and FX lenses.
DX lenses are less costly since they do not have to cover as large a sensor.
There are many lenses that only are available as an FX lens, so that will determine which type you buy.

Of my 12 Nikkor lenses, only two are DX.

For now, just get the 18-105 kit lens. Simple as that.

Get lenses that you need. If you need a certain FX lens; such as a 70-200 af-s vr2 for telephoto and fast lens then get it. If you need an all around lens like 18-105, then get that one then.
