My nikon doesn't work in sunlight? Why?

I bought a used Nikon d60 camera.bad idea. And then bought a brand new lens off of jr website. My camera ever since I bought it won't work in the sunlight I don't know why. It works perfectly everywhere else I just want to know why iy doesn't work in the sunlight. Is it broken forever or fixable.

Judging from this story there's nothing wrong with it but you just have no clue whatsoever what you are doing.

Define does not work? What are your settings in bright sunlight?
