MY NIKON D90 WILL NOT FIRE

Noylin
Noylin

NIKON D90, 50MM LENS, A' MODE, SHOOTING OUTDOORS AROUND 3PM. (SUNNY) THE SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON LOCKS UP AND IT WILL NOT FIRE, IN ORDER TO TAKE MY PICTURE I HAD TO CHANGE THE LENS. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM?
IS IT THE LENS OR THE CAMERA CAUSING THIS? WAS IT TOO BRIGHT (SUNNY) FOR THE 50MM LENS? BECAUSE AFTER CHANGING TO A 18-105 LENS THE SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON WOULD FIRE AGAIN.

Added (1). I'm using the 50mm f/1.8 D AF Nikkor lens, and the aperture ring was turned all the way to 22. When you look at the locking point there's two orange or red dots right? Do I set does dots to match, or how do I know when is locked? I'm new to all this sorry.

Added (2). * I also Called Nikon, but who ever answered was not very helpful. All she said was that she has never heard of a lens causing the shutter release button to lock.

Did you look on pages 250-257?

There are many failsafe reasons dSLR shutter releases will not work

1) no memory card in the camera
2) image is out of focus
3) exposure is out of range
4) lens is not correctly attached to the camera (see page 255)

Which 50 mm lens are you using? AF-S 50 mm f/1.4, AF 50 mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 or AI 50 mm f/1.4?

The lens you are using may be the problem. Bright sun is NEVER too bright for any lens. You just have to use the cameras light meter to set the correct exposure

Which 50mm lens? If you're using one with an aperture ring (AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D or AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D), then you'll need to turn the aperture ring all the way to f/22 and LOCK it there.
