My camera isn't focusing?

I have a nikon D3000 with a standard nikon 18-55mm lens and it has stopped getting a clear focus on manual or auto focus settings. I have tried cleaning the lens but I don't know what else could be the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Do you have an adjustable eyepiece? If so maybe it needs a simple adjustment/focusing to your eyes. If this does not work give Nikon call.
