Memory card issues with my Nikon D3100
I have a Nikon D3000, but I just bought a Nikon D3100. My memory card is a PNY Professional 16 GB. I have about 1, 800 photos on there. When I put my memory card in the Nikon D3100 my photos are gone, and when I put it in the Nikon D3000 its all there. How can I make it so that I can have the photos on my Nikon D3100?
It is normal for digital cameras to recognize only pictures it took itself. Modified, edited and those from other cameras will not show up during preview mode for the simple reason that the camera is not a viewing device. The files are all there and you can use the card to transfer files from camera to computer. You may use as much cards as you want on a device but those cards have to be used on that device only. That is to say the cards you use on the D3000 shouldn't be used on the D3100.It keeps the files in them safer.
The camera is for taking photos and not intended to be used as a general purpose picture viewer.
Take the photos off the card onto your PC then format the card in the 3100
