Macro lens for Nikon D60?
Here is the lens I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/...00005LEN4/
I'm looking for a macro lens for my Nikon D60, I have found this one but I'm unsure if it does really close up macro shots of water droplets for example?
I have been researching it for a while but no reviews on the Amazon website mention it.
Any other macro lenses you recommend, for a low price as possible. Thanks
Added (1). Thanks, ok I'll keep looking. I know about the auto focus I don't mind having to manual focus as I have to anyway with my zoom lens. Thank you.
Added (2). CiaoChao That is what I'm asking, sorry. I want a macro 1:1 lens.
Added (3). And I know about manual focus I use it anyway
That's not a macro lens, and wouldn't autofocus on your camera either.
There aren't really many choices available. The best one, unless you shoot bugs that are easily scared away, would be the Micro Nikkor 60mm/2.8G. Note that it also comes in an older D version which wouldn't autofocus on your camera either. You need AF-S (not just AF!) lenses to autofocus.
Then again, for macro shots manual focus is recommended anyway, but 60mm macro lenses are also good for portraits, and for that AF is useful.
How many times do I have to say this! Macro and Close Up are DIFFERENT. Macro is 1:1 magnification, close focusing just means you can focus onto something very near you, a lot of wide angle lenses do this without actually giving you 1:1 magnification.
The lens you mention there's NOT a macro lens. It is a 50mm f1.8 prime lens with no AF motor, it is suitable as a whole body/upper body portrait lens only. If you want a portrait lens, I would recommend the AF-S 50mm f1.8G which has a SWM allowing it to be used with autofocus on your D60.
If you want a macro lens, then one of the best performers would be the Sigma 105mm EX DG
P.S. For macro AF is essentially useless, as you require to be extremely accurate because of the limited DoF, manual focusing with open aperture metering is essential.
