I think you'd better find out from the teacher what kind of camera you should get. Many photography classes require a 35mm camera which is a film camera.

The two cameras you listed are digital, and some teachers do not want students to learn on Digital. But both of those are very good cameras. If you can use Digital, go to a good camera store and try out some in your price range Try finding things in the menu, and ask lots of questions of the salesperson. You will know the right one for you when you hold it in your hands.

Neither of those are 35mm cameras. They are APS-C sensor sized dSLRs.

Find out what your course requires, a 35mm film SLR or a APS-C digital SLR.

As I mentioned before, a 35mm camera is a FILM camera. Clarify with the college whether they require film or digital, as the two cameras you listed are both digital.

The cameras named in your links are digital SLRs. Probably your class wants you to use a film-based camera, i.e. Not digital. Talk to your tutor for firmer recommendations - don't buy almost at random or you will buy the wrong thing. In film cameras, which you will have to buy second-hand, a good Nikon, Pentax, or Canon SLR would be the thing to look out for. Buy from a dealer with warranty, not from a private person. You have to buy second hand since there are no new practical film-based cameras out there suitable for college learning.
