You can get a 7D for around the same price as a D7000

What is it about an entry-level camera that you don't like? The image quality is excellent. The 7D is known to be a challenge to novice users with respect to the auto-focus features. In many circles, it is judged to be a pro-level camera. The entry level model is the T5i. The 60D would one step up from there. I'm not sure what the European/Asian designations are.

Whoever told you that a Canon is more of a video camera has no idea what they're talking about. You would serve yourself well if you ignored any fact-based words that emerge from his or her vocal orifice.

If you are a Nikon user, the the next logical camera would be the Nikon D7100.

What you "hear" about different cameras doesn't address the true nature of the camera, but of the user.

Here what your "old" D7000 can do with a good script and competent video shooter.

The sensor on the new D7100 is better in every way than the one on the Canon 7D
