I hope you can help. I'm an amateur to photography but i'm going to Dubai in March and then my honeymoon is in August this year so would love a decent camera to capture some amazing times.

I have a real interest in big buildings and when i went to New York the pictures were spoilt because i just had a standard basic digital camera

I want to know will the Nikon D3100 camera be good for taking long distance photos of the tallest buildings such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur?

Or will i require most lenses etc

This is the camera i have seen which is my max budget -

But they also have this available aswell:

If you want to be able to fill the frame when you are far away from the subject then you need a longer focal length lens (telephoto). The second deal is a 2 lens package that gives you the 55-200mm zoom telephoto as well as the 18-55mm kit lens - I'd suggest this is your best bet.

The other package is for the camera plus the single kit lens (18-55mm) only & that could be a bit limiting on your hols.

My fiance has the D3100 and the two lenses in the second package - they are fine for travelling and will give you a reasonable reach without being too long & heavy.

Yes, the two lens kit will give you good versatility. However, I'm big on simplicity. I prefer having one lens that does it all.So, my recommendation is to get the D3100 or D3200 if you can afford it, and the Nikkor 18-200mm lens or, as I did, the Tamron 18-270mm PZD lens (Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD).

The D3100 is more than great, any DSLR will allow you to take pictures of pretty much everything. What matters more is what lens you are using, for traveling an all around lens would be the best (wide to telephoto reach).
