Nikon does not make any grip that is compatible with the D3100. Some other brands do but because the D3100 does not have a provision for a grip the shutter button is always clumsy

No. Entry level Nikons are not designed to be fitted with a vertical grip. Third party grips provide the user with two battery slots, however no vertical shutter release, and are battery grips only.
