I'm upgrading my camera from a nikon d40x to a nikon d7000, but i was just wondering if it is hard to use?

Nope, not at all.

Well, as long as you know how to use the manual settings on a DSLR…

If you are comfortable with your D40, the D7000 is only a lot simpler to use because all the buttons are present on the back of the camera rather then holding function buttons. You can easily access your f/stop, shutter speed, WB, ISO Bracketing, Exposure, metering… And much more.

No. Some of the settings are a bit odd though. Like instead of Nikon using ISO 100 it calls it Low 1 or something. Kind of annoying because on the D3000 it's ISO 100.

Some of the settings may be a bit different but Nikon has an excellent reputation that goes back to the F3 for consistent Ergonomics, pick up any Nikon and control placement will be very much like any other Nikon.
