How to use a pc hard drive as a camera's memory?

I have a nikon d90 and i'm attempting time lapse photography. I want to save the pictures i take directly on my computer with some sort of cable rather than on my camera's SD card which can only hold 2 GB. How do i do this?

You would have to spend way more than what it would cost you to buy a 8 or 16 GB card.
I would say look at a 4gb Eye fi http://www.eye.fi/products/connectx2
It is a SD card but is Wi-Fi capable of sending information from camera to computer no wires required.
