Really depend on your, my personally think Nikon and Canon both makes great cameras, and all the SLR are pretty much the same, only the buttons are at the different locations. So is pretty standard to use, my personally in love with the Nickon D7000 or D90 they both are decent cameras, takes batter quality picture than D5000, but if you are familiar with the SRL cameras it's should be pretty easy to use one, than the people who have never used a SRL camera before.

"Easy" is a relative word. If you're familiar with dslr cameras, know how to properly operate them for best results and understand the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, aperture and light I'd say it probably is easy to operate.

However, if you plan on using this camera like a point and shoot you'll notice very little difference between it and an upper level P&S camera. If you're willing to work to learn a dslr you'll have fun with it other wise save your money.
