Is tamrons 24-135 lens considered wide angle?
I'm EXTREMELY new to photography and my photography teacher passed me down his old tamron 24-135 lens to use with my Nikon d70 camera. Is this lens considered of capable of being a wide angle lens? I'm interested in using it to shoot some real estate photos.
NO
Here is a link that shows what different focal length lenses see when mounted on an APS-C sensored camera and FF sensored camera

My guess is that you have an entry level dSLR, so it will have an APS-C cropped sensor and need something like a 12-24 mm wide angle lens to shoot real estate.
At 24 mm, the lens is really only a nominally wide angle lens. Your 18-55 mm lens is wider.
Nice gift though.
It's slightly wide angle on your body. You probably want something a little wider for most real estate shoots.
I use Pentax gear and for my K5 I have a 14mm, 2.8 lens. I find this lens is excellent for real estate work and the K5 has a distortion correction facility on board I can use to straighten horizontal and vertical surface distortion. For extreme corrections I use the program PT Lens 8.7.8.It is a great program and doesn't cost much.
No (especially if you have a cropped sensor camera)
But why don't you stick it on your camera and look through the viewfinder? You will see that you don't get a wide angle.
The lower the focal length number, the wider the angle.
