Is it worth it to buy used DSLR cameras on Amazon?
I want to buy my first DSLR camera, i'm 14, i want to get the Nikon D3000, but its a little too expensive for the original price but i want to buy a used camera, which are cheaper like only 400$. Thanks everyone, and is the d3000 good for starters?
Thanks! If you answer all my questions, well, i will give you best answer (:
Added (1). Are used DSLR cameras usually in bad shape?
how do you know if it will be good when it arrives? T h a n x.
1. If you can buy a used camera on Amazon, I would imagine that Amazon will take it back if defective right away (that's within 10 days, not two months!).
2. I have no idea if the d3000 is a good starter camera.
3. Usually the description of the camera's condition is pretty accurate.
4. You test the camera RIGHT AWAY as mentioned above you don't wait. Go out and shoot what ever, then have an 11x14 print made ($4.00, Costco, and other one hour labs) If the print is sharp and has good color, keep the camera, otherwise return it NOW!
The D3000 is a good camera to start with. If you want cheaper you'll have to look for something like a Sony a230.
The d3000 was only released in 2009 and is mostly used by beginner or casual photographers like myself who want better quality photos than a point and shoot. Therefore, it would defenitely be good idea to get this second hand as it would not have been used as much as a pro or older model camera, such as the d40 which is also a good camera. And also, nikon just released the d3100 to replace the d3000 and would defenitely lower the price of the d3000 which is good.
and get the 35mm f1.8 instead of the kit lens 18-55. Super sharp and great for low light.
