I have a d5000and i have to photograph a wedding. I'm confused in what AF Area and Focus mode settings to use for a group photographs at stage. And what settings for portraits? I will use the M mode and won't use flash since there will be ample of light (and i don't have a flash either)

Your suggestions will be highly valuable for me please help

I tend to use the following settings regarding focus:
* Focus area selection: AF-S (focus locks when you press the shutter release half way)

* AF Area setting: Single Area. Set the focus area to the center point.

When shooting, choose an object to focus on (usually someone's eye), press the shutter release half way to lock focus, compose, and shoot. This way you choose the focus point instead of letting the camera choose a focus point.

Center point autofocus. Get a tripod and i recommend getting a cheap flash. You may want to check out the yongnuo line. Their from china but i've had mine for over a year and their really good. If your looking to shoot portraits aswell look at the 50 1.8 nikon lens.(not sure its name)

this will give you some excellent images.
