Imovie 11 won't export nikon d3100 into 1080p?

I got a new macbook pro in january after having a regular macbook before that. My nikon d3100 would always export in 1080p. For some reason on my new computer, it'll only export in 720p.suggestions?

I'm sorry, your tech is invalid.

I'm assuming that you are saying the clips from the camera don't seem to be transferred into iMovie (imported) in 1080p.
1. Check the video recording settings of the camera - are they set to 1080p, not 720p?
2. Check if iMovie has imported the clips from the camera in 1080p: right-click on one clip in iMovie's Event Browser and choose 'Reveal in Finder'. When you're in the Finder window with the imported file highlighted, double-click to open the file in QuickTime Player, then press Cmd-i. The Inspector window opens, and you can read the exact specs of the file (see Format… )
3. If the camera records correctly in 1080p, but the format of the clip file from #2 is smaller, you will need to change iMovie's import preference setting: press Cmd-comma (or choose iMovie > Preferences) then click 'Video' and set the option 'Import HD Video as: Full - Original Size'. You may have to reject and delete the already imported clips in iMovie's Event Browser, then import the videos from the camera again with the new import setting.
