Just looking for opions and reasons, should i buy a Canon 550d (600d) or Nikon 5100d, i'm still looking for what area of photography i want to shoot.

( i can also afford canon 60d but not the d7000 as its 500 more.)

i will try them in the shops, i have rather large hands if it helps.

Here is why you may want to look closely at the Nikon D5100 (not 5100d)

As you will see after looking at each cameras sensor performance, you will see why the Nikon D5100 is so popular. Low-light performance is just part of it

If you can afford it, buy the highest model you can afford. In your case, it's the 60D. All dSLRs are basically the same but higher end models have more megapixels, more control range, easier access to those controls and sometimes a larger rear LCD making picture taking easier and more fun.

If you didn't catch it yet, any dSLR can be used for any kind of shooting. What matters is you should know exactly what you are doing. Large hands are no problem. The easier for you to catch the camera in case it falls.

I chose Canon for the feel/ergonomics/menu layout and a fellow photog chose Nikon for the same reasons (and we both have large hands). If the camera does not feel "natural" in your hands you will have issues that will result in missed shots due to fumbling around.

I tell people to remember a couple of things:

1) Photography is roughly 70% photographer skill/experience, 20% lens quality, and 10% camera. I have seen better images from a professional using an entry level $600 camera than I have with an amateur and a $6, 000 camera.

2) IMO… I would rather have a $600 camera with a $1, 500 lens than I would a $1, 800 camera with a $300 lens.

On a side note… I can't take a company that hires Ashton Kutcher as their spokesperson seriously… Nope… Sorry, I just can't do it.

That is the same as having Kitty Dukakis as spokesperson for an alcohol ad. (ESPECIALLY after the "rubbing alcohol incident").

600D and 550D have the same sensor, the only difference is the articulating screen. I'd go with the 550D as Nikon D5100 is 99% like the 600D, but you save money!

I think Nikon D5100 would be the better of the two beccause both are almost equal in performance but Nikon D5100 is a little cheaper so why not go with it. I would also suggest you read this review:

Here are some great discounts:

But if you still prefer Canon 600d, i've found this link that offers good deals:

Hope this helps.
