I have the nikon D60 and want to buy a filter for my lens.what size?
I have a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens. I can't find anywhere the size of filter that I would need. I'm looking to buy a Nikon soft #1 filter. Also, I'm not sure if I can put a filter on my 55mm kit lens. I have a UV filter on my larger lens that screws off easily, but the 55mm doesn't seem to have a thread to screw a lens onto. I'm wondering if the new filter I want to get could be used on both lenses?
Both the 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lenses use 52 mm filter threads.
This is mentioned on the lens itself as well as the Nikon website.
Filter size depends on the lens, not the camera. Both your lenses use 52mm filters. Verify under the lens caps.
You will probably have to remove any lens hoods first before you can screw in the lens filter. It is good practice to attach a UV filter to all of your lenses for protection. You only take off the UV filter when it gets damaged or scratched. By then it would have done its job. Other filters can be shared between the two.
