I have a nikon D5000 with a 18-55mm lens?

On it and I would like to know if I can find a lens that Autofocuses at a faster speed, or if i just need to get a more advanced SLR for faster continuous snapping.

Quite a lot of lenses will focus faster. Depends on the situation though. Look at tamron's latest 17-50 or sigma's 18-50 f2.8
