How to transfer pictures in my camera to my computer?

This probably sound stupid but i have a mac book pro and i just inserted the memory card from my nikon D90 into the card slot and when i open the memory card i can't see the pictures i've taken. How do I transfer my pictures?

Put the card back in camera and use the usb cord that came with it. It will automatically come up on screen then.
