How to take pictures on my Nikon D70 without there being a focal point?
Is there a way to take pictures on my Nikon D70 without there being a focal point?
Put the cameras lens in the manual mode and do what you want… Shoot everything out of focus (no focal point).
What is your purpose? Is this an exercise?
What?
If you mean that at the distance you want, the autofocus can't lock on, there are some possibilities. With many of the AF-D prime lenses there's a useful distance scale. With some autofocus lenses there's a distance scale. Some are reasonably accurate, and some are not.
Another possibility is to determine the distance you want, find something to lock onto that matches the distance, autofocus, and then switch to manual. Then go back to recompose your shot, being careful not to change the zoom or focus setting.
A related trick could be to put a handkerchief or other object by your subject, and/or to use a flashlight to get a good autofocus. Then switch to manual focus and remove the focusing aid from the scene.
Autofocus relies on using focus points. If you want to say use hyperfocal focusing, that has to be done manually. Older AF lenses will need to be switched off at the body.AF-I and AF-S lenses have the switch on the lens barrel.
Unless you mean an image without a "focal" point, which essentially can be done with any camera, from the latest Hasselblad, to a home made pinhole, simply take an image of a very plain scene, e.g. The calm see, at noon.
