How to take good concert photos?

I have a nikon d60 and i'm just wondering what mode is best for concert photos, the event is inside and i'm right up against the stage last time i tried to take photos the flash drowned out the background color and the natural color of the event, when i turned off flash the shutter speed was too slow giving me blurry images, this is mainly due to the fact the performers are in constant motion, i use the stock lens any advice and help is greatly appreciated

Better ISO handling…

know your camera inside out… Get fast lens with large aperture…

The only way you will get decent photos is to use manual mode. Since your lens is not fast enough for low light photos, keep your shutter speed high, even if that underexposes your photos. Adjust exposure in post.

If you don't understand what I said, take a basic photography class.

If you use the light meter on your camera, set the ISO to 3200 and set the white balance to incandescent, you should get good shots.

You should find some spots of the stage that have more light than others. Just set up on those and when the performer enters that light, take the shot.

Shooting concerts is a lot like shooting action shots. You have to anticipate where the performer or athlete will be and then shoot then they are in the best light or showing the best action
