How to switch flash off all modes on a nikon D3000?
I know there's a mode without flash, but how can you switch the flash off on like macro or portrait mode?
Muchly appreciated, thanks
There should be a button on the front of the camera, right next to the lens,
Have you read your owner's manual? If not, why not? Besides, in any other mode than full auto the flash should not operate automatically - or don't you know how to use the other modes? Read the book
Buried in the menus is a setting to put flash in manual mode.
You can't switch off flash. This is because all scene modes are essentially 'auto' modes. The camera decides nearly every single setting for you and you have no say in deciding anything.
This why photographers much prefer to shoot in the P, A, S, or M modes, where they can choose whether to use flash or not (and many other settings). In these modes, the flash only pops up and fires when the user pressed the flash button on the side.
Either take a photography course and learn how to use the manual/semi-manual modes, or put up with the flash popping up when you don't want it to.
If you are so bent on using your fine DSLR camera like a point-and-shoot, there's a "flash off" mode on your D3000. Simply switch the mode dial to the icon where there's a crossed out lightning bolt.
