How to shoot pictures in black and white on the Nikon D3100?
Can you explain what buttons to press and that, I have no clue.
Added (1). Yes I have read the manual, but I can't find the instructions on this particular problem.
Did your camera come with a user's manual? If so, THEN READ IT!

This is called "Monochrome"

It's usually a better idea to shoot in color and to convert the images to B/W later on the computer - a shot may look better in color and then you still can choose whether to use color or B/W. If you let the camera do it to shoot right in B/W, then you lose that option.
The most important reason why you shouldn't shoot in black and white with digital is because you would have very little control after the fact. If you shoot in color, you can make choices in how the photo will look when you convert it.
The Flow is a kinda rude person assuming he/she's comment is a reflection of he/she's personality. Not a nice response. A stupid question is the question not asked.
